Social media

I quit social media.

I know this is not everyone but my expecting social media was not a good one. You’ve probably read about the dangers of it but assumed it was talking about someone else not you.

Think about this, you open up a social media page and start scrolling. Next thing you know 30 min have past and you have no idea where the time went. Did you get anything positive out of your scroll session? Learn something? Connect with someone? Did you compare your life to someone’s picture? Did you read something that tugged at your emotions? Or made you question something?

This off balance effect is what they want, it makes you vulnerable to allow them to manipulate your emotions to click on the link and keep scrolling.

When I quit social media I didn’t recognize this yet. I just wanted to get the time back that I was wasting on there. I knew my mental heath was struggling but I didn’t think social media played a part. Sure I got anxious and a bit depressed after scrolling but that was normal I thought…. News flash, it’s not. I’ve noticed such a change in my life since I left that I have no desire to return.

I recently came to the realization that what they are doing is manipulating your emotions to keep you coming back. They want you off kilter, under their thumb to keep you from questioning things. it just feels yucky. They pray on the triggers from our past that make us question our selves.
